Volleyball seeded No. 3

The Pitt-Johnstown women’s volleyball team has earned the No. 3 seed in the 2016 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament.

Pitt-Johnstown will host No. 6 seed Seton Hill University at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Sports Center.

Seton Hill University finished second in the Southwest Division at 19-12 overall and 11-7 in the conference.

The Lady Cats swept weekend conference play with a 3-0 win against Millersville University Friday and a 3-1 win against Shippensburg University Saturday.

Redshirt junior setter Allison Mondorff collected a match-high 30 set assists and two blocks Friday against Millersville University while junior defensive specialists Logan McIntosh and Devan Orr each had seven digs.

Saturday against Shippensburg University,  junior outside hitter Cam Wierman had 20 kills and 13 digs while redshirt junior outside hitter Marissa Erminio added 14 kills, two blocks and seven digs.

Pitt-Johnstown and Seton Hill met in Greensburg Oct. 28; the Lady Cats came away with a 3-sets-to-1 victory.

Erminio finished with a match-high 21 kills while sophomore outside hitter Maura Brehl had 11 kills, three blocks and five digs.

The Griffins were led by senior outside hitter Cassie Hausfeld’s nine kills and 16 digs along with sophomore middle hitter Jenna Sassack’s nine kills and two blocks.

The Lady Cats also  won the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Central Division with a 22-8 overall record and 15-3 mark in conference.
