After having a rough start to their season, the Pitt-Johnstown women’s basketball team improved their record with a five-game winning streak.
Senior forward Katie McBroom said the wins came with hard work at practice.
“We worked hard and came together as a team,” said McBroom. “Things started to fall into place.”
McBroom said the team switched up their offensive strategy.
“We began running a dribble offense, which has allowed the floor to open up for our guards driving.”
The Lady Cats took on Shepherd University, Lock Haven University and Clarion University to begin their streak. They also beat West Virginia University and Alderson-Broaddus College.
Freshman guard Kelsey Sleighter said the team played through adversity.
“Winning those five games was really exciting, especially after the rough start to our season,” said Sleighter. “We never gave up.”
“The team has started to click and understand each individual player on the court.”
Sleighter said the team hopes to continue be successful this season.
“We plan to keep playing as a team and learn from our mistakes.”
The team’s record is 5-9 and 3-7 in the conference.
