More winners are arriving

It seems that after winning and tying only two games in the last three years, Pitt-Johnstown women’s soccer team is finally making a comeback.

Since Aug. 30, when the season began, the team has lost two games, but won three, and seems to improve with each game.

This is the team’s first season since Vito Addalli was named head coach, who has introduced a new formation.

We’re no experts on soccer formations, but whatever Addalli is doing is working.

According to sophomore Abby LaDuke, the team has noticed some positive changes since Addalli has introduced the new formation.

From 2013 to 2017 the team was coached by Rachel Gironda, and according to Athletic Director Pat Pecora, within that time the team saw improvement, but not many wins.

Addalli has several goals for the girls this season, including the hopes to attract more recruits and finish in the top eight in the conference.

We congratulate the girls on their wins and wish them a great season. It is nice to see that the girls are improving and that they are confident that they will keep improving and join other athletes in providing a good representation of the winners we strive to be.

The wrestling team and the volleyball teams have provided such representation for years.

It would be great to see our less successful athletic teams establish a consistently winning performance in their representation.

It is also good for Pitt-Johnstown’s image to have the team off to such a great start. The girls are representing the university well and we hope they continue to do so.

Although the girls are off to a great start this season, there are many more games and challenges ahead, but we believe if they have the confidence and keep up the positive attitude, they can accomplish the goals they, along with their coach, have set.

Addalli is positive that the girls can keep building up their confidence and win more games, and we applaud their efforts to this point.

Athletics are sometimes referred to as the university’s front porch.

It will be nice to see more winning athletes populating our front porch.
