Former Pitt-Johnstown student John Henry McGuire’s alleged rape case continues.

McGuire appeared for arraignment March 24, at District Justice Judge John Barron’s office.

His bail was set at $50,000, and McGuire paid $5,000, the required 10 percent, to avoid being placed in Cambria County Prison, according to his case file.

Four of McGuire’s original five charges have been sent to Cambria County Court.

He still faces rape, sexual assault and indecent assault charges.

He also faces a charge of purchase, consumption, possession or transportation of liquor or malt or brewed beverages by an underage, according to his case file.

McGuire was 20 in January. He is 21 now.

A search warrant was issued to McGuire to collect a DNA mouth swab by Campus Police Officer Matthew Updyke, according to his case file.

McGuire was convicted in 2013 of driving under the influence, according to his case file.

A trial date has not been set.

Student Affairs Vice President Shawn Brooks said McGuire was originally put on interim suspension, but he has withdrawn himself from Pitt-Johnstown.
