Woodside Bar and Grill started a late-night shuttle service for Pitt-Johnstown students Sept. 18. The Woodside bus is currently the only late night transportation being provided to students. It continues to run every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights with no charge.

Now, however, there are a couple different projects underway. CamTran, the public transportation service of Cambria County, along with Hometown Bar and Grill, are working out details to provide transit services.

Although nothing is set in stone, CamTran is looking into trying to provide students with a shuttle service that will fit more needs of students.

“(CamTran is) still looking on our end to see if it’s even conceivable,” said Josh Yoder, CamTran’s Director of Marketing and Planning.

Yoder said the cost of the shuttle would be the same as the regular base fare of $1.50 per ride. The destinations of stops for the safe-riders shuttle are still to be determined.

Yoder mentioned that he and the CamTran team members know students want more rides, and they are trying to do what they can to help.

CamTran has not set anything in stone yet, but, within the next few weeks, more should be known on the progress of the possible CamTran safe-riders service.

Hometown Bar and Grill also is working on a late night shuttle service to attract more students potentially every Wednesday and Thursday night. Hometown managers plan on having the shuttle take students to and from Pitt-Johnstown’s campus and the bar.

“The employees want to do it to get the students (to Hometown Bar and Grill),” said employee Alex Firm.

Firm said the Hometown Shuttle should be starting soon, hopefully within the next few weeks.

“Not sure if they are charging a fee (to ride the Hometown Shuttle), but they are most likely not. If they do, it won’t be more than $5,” said Firm.
