At about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, the entire Pitt-Johnstown campus lost power until about 11:30 a.m.
And, at 10:45 a.m. the power outage caused a Student Union fire alarm to activate when ventilation fans couldn’t clear smoke from cafeteria grills.
Many students were also unable to get into their dorms because card readers at every door don’t work without electricity.
Living/Learning Center resident Misha Hartman said she was in her dorm when the power went out.
“Everything went black,” Hartman said. “My computer and TV went off and alarm clock reset.”
She also said that her roommate was outside when the power went out, and she couldn’t get back in.
“By the time she came back, though, the power was back on.”
