A tale of two crowns is to turn heads in the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center this November.
Nicole Waligora of the Johnstown Visitors Bureau said the Miss Pennsylvania USA and Miss Pennsylvania Teen USA pageants are estimated to bring more than 1,000 visitors to the area.
“The Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center will be a wonderful venue, and we are happy that so much potential was seen in our city,” Waligora said.
“Our hospitality is second to none, and our partners are engaged and enthusiastic. People know they are valued when they visit our community.”
According to Crown American Associates Marketing Director Melissa Radovanic, the Holiday Inn in downtown Johnstown is to serve as the host hotel for pageant contestants.
“We are excited to be the host community, and more importantly, the host hotel for the Miss Pennsylvania contestants,” Radavonic said.
“Welcoming tourists provides a great economic impact for the area,” she said.
“It was an easy choice,” said Randy Sanders, the state pageant’s Director said, reflecting on the venue decision.
“After working alongside Johnstown Visitors Bureau representatives and seeing what the area had to offer, we knew the Pasquerilla Center was right for the competition,” Sanders said.
According to Sanders, contestants are to participate in three equal categories of competition during the pageants.
The categories consist of a personal interview, swimsuit for Miss, active wear for Miss Teen and evening gown.
The preliminary swimsuit or active wear and evening gown competitions are to be held at 8 p.m. Nov. 2.
The final competition is to be held at 4 p.m. Nov. 3.
